Having a good body image is tough. Everyone has their insecurities. We all see these celebrities and Instagram models and wish we looked like them. Some of us may have body dysmorphia I know that I struggle with that sometimes.

Maybe you’re struggling with something that isn’t under your control. You could have gone through surgery and now you’ve got a scar or scars that you hate. I know that I hate my surgery scars. I am in the process of tattooing over my scars to hopefully gain some self-confidence. No matter what it is that’s making you feel insecure about yourself don’t worry about it. STOP!

In the long run, people aren’t going to care about or judge you on your outward appearance forever. I know that I really should practice what I preach but sometimes body image is something deeper than just being judged. It could stem from your childhood, a trauma that has occurred in your life, a terrible relationship, a breakup etc.

We all feel self-conscious about our bodies in one way or another. That’s okay the key to feeling better about yourself is actually doing something to help improve it, whether it be giving yourself a little pep talk in the mirror, keeping a jar of lies you tell yourself ie: I’m not pretty, I can’t compete with them, I’ve got nothing going for me in life. Keep a jar of self-deprecating thoughts and look back on them after you’ve achieved something in your life that you can be proud of. You can always talk to someone who you trust whether that’s a friend, family member, counselor, or WHOEVER! It’s your life, you decide. So here are a few ideas of what to do to help you with your body image. You can always start working out like I’ve said before this can help with not only your physical health but improve the way that you see yourself, find something that you love, and do that no one should live miserably.

It’s never too late to start over, let’s say that you dropped out of school, and you want to go back. Just do it there is no reason to wait or worry about not fitting in. If you really want to improve your life and expand your mind, then do it. Journal it’s a great way to get your thoughts and feelings out. Plus this way nobody will know how you feel or what you are thinking and last but not least treat yourself.

Let’s say that you got a promotion at work, or you complete a really difficult task. Then treat yourself! You can do something big or something small. It’s up to you.

At the end of the day, it’s your decision, you can improve your self-esteem and improve your body image by doing at least one of the things I’ve talked about. (You can also do your own research) or you can hate the way you look, hate your body and eventually, you’ll end up hating yourself. I hope some of this helped you, but it is your life and I’m just writing in it.
