In this session, we will learn about the first energy center called Mooladhara chakra. We will also collectively meditate on this chakra and experience the qualities of innocence and joy within us. The experience helps us to take care of the emotional and mental challenges of the teenage years.

We will focus on the first energy center, the Mooladhara Chakra. In Sanskrit, “Mooladhara” means support of the roots. This chakra is the base of the subtle system. Its innate qualities are joy, innocence, and wisdom.

The teenage years can be a hard time for all of us. Our bodies start changing, we get so many more responsibilities both in and outside of school, and our emotions start taking control over us. We don’t understand where we fit in, whether we’re still kids or should act like adults.

In this session, we will introduce you to a very important cleansing activity called Foot Soak (soaking your feet in the Salt water). This helps to clear our chakras to bring calmness to our being. We will also discuss the positive effects of meditation on our overall Physical Health.

About the Event

In light of the unsettling reality that our youth are going through, the USA government considers it important to address the issues of youth, and thus created a special website called “Youth.Gov”.

In light of the unsettling reality that our youth are going through, the USA government considers it important to address the issues of youth, and thus created a special website called “Youth.Gov”.

We all are responsible to look after our teens and young adults, as a special and vibrant power of every country. Because of that, UNESCO Body & Mind Wellness Club (UNESCO BMW), in collaboration with Sahaja Yoga Meditation (SYM), is pleased to invite you to a 9 Day online program “Meditation for Life’s Chaos” as one of the ways to face and solve the problems of our youth from their own interior and innate resources.

Since 2014, UNESCO BMW, a registered non-profit organization and member of the US Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations (USFUCA), promotes inner peace practices, encouragement of arts and crafts, as well as the protection of the Eco-system in order to create Eco-friendly jobs.

SYM is a registered non-profit organization. Internationally, SYM is practiced in over 100 countries and includes participants of all ages, races, genders, and ethnicities. Students practising SYM reported a marked improvement in their memory, concentration, and self-esteem. It has also enabled them to develop their natural strengths and abilities.

We would like to offer a taste of these benefits by conducting free 60-minute sessions for nine consecutive days, for teens and young adults, on how to meditate. The program will focus on youth issues such as mental health, social media use/misuse, bullying etc. This instructional program would be free of charge and includes an introduction to the issues followed by a guided meditation with music and a Q&A session. This is a part of UNESCO BMW’s initiatives. Through the use of very simple meditation techniques, one can find that peace is not merely a concept, but an inner state that can be easily and spontaneously reached. The objective is that each participant can experience a state of mental silence, as a gateway to stress relief and inner peace.

Participants with full attendance in the program will be provided attendance certificates from UNESCO BMW.

  • Tips on how to help stay in balance during the day and how to meditate at home.
  • Sessions suitable for both complete beginners and regular meditators.
  • No prior knowledge or experience of meditation required.
  • No physical exercises, postures or special clothing are required.
  • Join in at anytime, even if you’ve missed some sessions.

As part of the Meditation for Life’s Chaos 9 Day Meditation Program, Barnoor covers the topic "The Mental Health" for Day 1 of the program.

Mental health includes emotional well-being, psychological well-being and social well-being.
Youth with mental health issues may face challenges in their homes, school, community, and interpersonal relationships.

You may have no friends. You may feel alone most of the time. You may feel things are hard and take a lot of time. You may feel it difficult to be disciplined and better. You may feel the worry of being responsible. You may feel social media is placing you in a toxic head space where you think everyone is having fun and is living their perfect lives. You may have relationship problems. You may have no one to listen to you.

I, Barnoor Kaur, on the behalf of UNESCO BMW, is there for you in the issues that affect you. I am there for you as a friend, always trying to help you out to make things easier. It's okay to be messy and irresponsible sometimes. It's okay if you think you don't have the best life. I'm there to listen to you.

As part of the Meditation for Life’s Chaos 9 Day Meditation Program, Tanya covers the topic "The Essence of Ethics" for Day 2 of the program.

Values are essential ideas that influence or motivate people's attitudes and behaviours. They aid us in determining our priorities.

Values are the characteristics we choose to embody to guide our actions; they describe the type of person we want to be, how we treat ourselves and others, and how we interact with the world around us. They lay out the groundwork for good behaviour. Ethics is only possible if you have values. Human acts and their choices are the subject of ethics. These behaviours, as well as the beliefs that underpin them, are evaluated by ethics. It chooses which values should be pursued and which should be avoided.

Kendall Cotton Bronk, an associate professor of psychology, researched young adults and their life goals. She discovered that merely talking about what is important to young people increased their sense of purpose. Even though her study was based on a 45-minute talk in a lab, parents and mentors may help adolescents identify and think more thoroughly about their values, interests, and worries by encouraging them to identify and think more deeply about their values, interests, and issues. Teens who have developed a core set of values will have a foundation to make safe, solid choices when they are on their own and cannot rely on a parent to guide the “right” choiceey aid us in determining our priorities.

Teenage years can be a hard time for all of us. Our bodies start changing, we get so may more responsibilities both in and outside of school, and our emotions start taking control over us.

We don’t understand where we fit in, whether we’re still kids or should act like adults. We try so many things to find out where we belong, and some of those may end up getting us in trouble. But remember, you are not alone. About 1 billion other people around the world are going through this too.

And it’s just a phase. Nothing lasts forever, this, too, will eventually end. If we listen to our inner voice, the one we know is telling us the right thing to do, we all have the potential to emerge as strong, confident adults.

Nutrition is a basic human need and a prerequisite for healthy life. Good nutrition is essential in keeping current and future generations of Americans healthy across the lifespan.

People with healthy eating patterns live longer and are at lower risk for serious health problems such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. For people with chronic diseases, healthy eating can help manage these conditions and prevent complications.

Human beings need adequate energy to carry out their daily routine physical work, maintain body temperature, metabolic activity and to support growth.

Energy requirement of an individual is based on daily energy expenditure. It is also dependent on age, body weight, level of physical activity, growth and physical status.

Adolescents require more energy for healthy growth. Adequate nutrition is required for adequate energy in our body.

Hello all, I want to tell you about letting go and how to love yourself. I know that we all have our own little problems in life and I'm not telling you to get over it.

Trust me, I've held grudges, gone into deep depression and I have even fallen down the rabbit hole of self-pity.

However, recently, I've learned some things to boost my own well-being and self-love.
Here are some tips: 1. going outside, getting that vitamin D, can really help you in many different ways. 2. exercising is a little know way to reduce your depression and gain more self-confidence. 3. Journaling, is a great way to get your emotions and thoughts out.

Plus, you can do it without other people knowing your secrets, thoughts or emotions. Now, to gain self-love, I'd suggest finding something that will give you purpose whether that may be a job, volunteering, or going to school.

Just find something that will fill your time and is good for your soul. Be yourself, because you will attract like-minded people, and believe it or not, being social can really help your mental health.

All of these suggestions can and will help you feel better, but you don't have to do ALL of them at once. Don't overwhelm yourself. If you do, you'll be more likely to give up and start to go backwards again.

Hello, I am Nikhil Agarwal, and I am a student at Independence Highschool.

Ever since I was young, I have always had a desire to become a medical doctor. However, being able to be admitted into medical colleges is extremely difficult, some colleges even require aspiring students to attain well over 450 hours of medical volunteering.

Although medical volunteering hours are a great opportunity for students to be exposed to the environment, they may one-day be working in, students need to realize the significance of these volunteering opportunities.

They are not simply numbers you track in a log book so you can one day submit them to colleges and the admission board, but instead gaining insight and experience from these volunteering opportunities is the main goal.

Volunteering for UNESCO BMW is one of the opportunities I had which gave me more confidence and self-esteem which allowed me to believe I am capable of taking on more responsibility and work.

Being self-aware of my goal and interest allows me not only to prepare for the rigors of school work, but also allow me to envision possible future jobs.

However, it is through meditation which allows me to pursue this goal. Being self-aware of one’s capabilities and limits allow us to make decisions which enable us to go further in life.

Meditation has helped with this as it allows me to have a more concentrated attention to carefully think through important decisions, but also helps me relax and stay calm even through stressful periods in which school gets excessively difficult.

And it is only through meditation which allows me to stay focused and aware of my plan of moving forward into medicine.

What is Bullying?

Bullying is the use of force, coercion, hurtful teasing or threat, to abuse, aggressively dominate or intimidate. Bullying has the following three criterias:

(1) Hostile intent, A bully intends to hurt another individual either physically, verbally, mentally or emotionally.
(2) Imbalance of power. Those who usually bully come from a perceived higher position of power, such as those who are bigger, stronger, or perceived to be popular.
(3) Repetition over a period of time, it's usually a pattern of behaviour rather than an isolated incident.

How can one help prevent bullying?
1. Educate yourself. Once you know what bullying is, you will be able to identify it more easily, and whether it is happening to you or someone else.
2. Parents should talk openly and frequently to their children. Parents should talk to their children about bullying, which may help the child open up about their experiences regarding it. Check in with your children daily and ask about their time at school and their activities online, inquiring not only about their classes and activities, but also about their feelings.
3. Help your child be a positive role model. There are three parties to bullying: the victim, the perpetrator, and the bystander. Even if children are not victims of bullying, they can prevent bullying by being inclusive, respectful and kind to their peers. If they witness bullying, they can stick up for the victim, offer support, and/or question bullying behaviors.
4. Be kind and respectful towards others. You should treat others the way you would like to be treated.
