Art Competition 2024
Art for Inner Peace
To strengthen the vitality and sustainability of artists, UNESCO BMW, created this competition for the local community of Frederick with an opportunity for national and international submissions.
Our mission is to promote the understanding of UNESCO ideals and to put in action initiatives that help raise a new generation of illuminated artists in the arena of world peace. We hope to create the conditions for dialogue through art among civilizations, cultures and people. Through this competition, we wish to promote local and international artists by showcasing their art pieces as well as bringing cultural events to the community.

SUBMISSION CONDITIONS
Participants:
Any age, faith, gender, culture
Product by category:
- Video: Minimum 1 to 10 minutes, submit YouTube link or low resolution format by email. Judges will consider contestants’ technical and creative approach to sound, editing, cinematography, story and plots, and the art of acting
- Photography format: digital high resolution (min 3000px x 2300px at 300 dpi). Judges will consider innovative means of delivering the message, overall artistic impression, clarity and quality of submission, color, lighting, exposure and focus
- Painting format: maximum 8×11.5
- Poetry: minimum 1 verse and maximum 7 verses. Contestants can provide additionally a recording of max 1 min video of themselves or a suitable background while reading their poem.
- Music: a track of minimum 1 to 3 minutes as the whole or an extract of a longer track.
- Sculpture: self-expression in many forms, whether it fit into conventional definitions of art, or other endeavors such as robotics and the like. The Sculpture should reflect an affirmative statement of the power of Inner Peace that allow man to express himself to himself and to others.
Project Specifications: The sculpture should be less than 2 ft high with a maximum width of 1 ft. Artist should submit multiple slides showing all possible views and description of materials.
All contestants in all categories will be judged on their ability to follow the theme of the contest. All contestants will be judged on their ability to convey in finest artistic manner the message or/and having an innovative approach to the material, uniqueness of concept, clarity of expression, originality, creativity. There shall be no nude or shocking/graphic images or messages.
Dates:
The contest starts on November 1, 2024 and the final deadline is January 15, 2025. Judging will take place on January 30, 2025 and final winners will be announced and displayed their work on the website of https://www.UNESCOBMW.org on February 28, 2025.

Prizes:
There will be 2 finalists for each category.
All winner’s art pieces and media will be displayed and presented at the Art for Inner Peace event March 1, 2025 and will be displayed throughout the 2025.
Second finalists will receive a certificate
First will receive a membership letter to UNESCO BMW Club
Submission Rules: Make sure your entry follows the submission guidelines prior to
submitting:

● The work has to be relevant to the theme of Inner Peace
● Your work must be original
● All artworks have to comply with the mentioned format requirements
● You must complete the 100-word explanation of your work and send it to
info@unescobmw.org
● Agree to the terms and conditions of the contest as for below n. 7
COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. Eligibility:
In order to enter the competition, participants agree to the Official Rules. The Rules consist of terms and conditions on this page. Projects not submitted in English should have translations or English subtitles (does not have to be perfect).
2. Competition Period:
The
contest starts on November first and the final deadline is January 15, 2025.
3. How to Enter:
Entrants will submit their work via email to info@unescobmw.org
4. Judging and Selection of Winners:
Entrees
will be judged by selected members of UNESCO BMW. Judging will be done online.
Judges will receive an equal number of entries – randomly chosen – in each category. Judging will be based on a sliding scale 1-10 (1 as lowest and 10 the highest) based on the criteria
of relevance, creativity, originality and technique.
5. Prizes:
Will be announced and Displayed on March 1, 2025 for the whole rest of the year.
6. Privacy Notice:
Any personal data, collected during the course of the competition will only be used and disclosed for purposes reasonably connected with administering and promoting this competition, including certain internal and external communications related to the essay contest. We may also share personal data of the overall winner and the finalists with the press for publicity purposes. Subject to parental consent (if required), the overall winner and the finalists may be required to
participate in the summer camps, in publicity such as press interviews or other promotion.
7. No Recourse to judicial or other procedures:
Considering the ethics of our UNESCO BMW Club, we protect the authenticity and copyright of your artwork, therefore, to the extent permitted by law, the rights to litigate, to seek injunctive relief or to any other recourse to judicial or any other procedure in case of disputes or claims resulting from or in connection with this Competition are hereby excluded, acknowledge and agree, and expressly waive any and all such rights.
