About Shri Mataji
(March 1923–23 February 2011), also known as Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, the founder of Sahaja Yoga.
Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, She was a visionary willing to share her view of a better world that includes a place for each of us, side by side, as one. She was also the founder of Sahaja Yoga, a worldwide movement practiced in over a hundred countries. The yoga is the practical application of her vision.
Shortly before India achieved independence in 1947, Shri Mataji married Chandrika Prasad Srivastava, a high-ranking Indian civil servant who later served Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri as Joint Secretary, and was also bestowed an honorary KCMG by Elizabeth II. They had two daughters, Kalpana Srivastava and Sadhana Varma.
