What is national youth day?
The National Youth Day is celebrated on 12th January every year in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and to also celebrate an important milestone in the history of Indian freedom struggle.
The main objective behind celebrating this event is to create awareness about the importance of channelizing the energy of youth in nation building through activities like seminars, workshops, contests etc.

The aim is to motivate youngsters to participate in different activities that would help them understand their role as future citizens and make them aware about their responsibilities towards society at large.
The day is celebrated in a number of ways. It is observed with great enthusiasm by the government agencies as well as non-governmental organizations. The event is marked by various activities, such as seminars and workshops. Many youth groups organize events on this day to
Various government agencies organize various events on youth day including quiz competitions and essay writing competitions for students at school level; essay writing competitions for college students; painting competition for art students; hand written novel contest (short stories), essay writing competition etc., for university/college/school going students respectively.
Other than these events held by government agencies there are many other celebrations organized by private organizations such as schools and colleges which include skits based on patriotic songs or poems recitation contests etc.,
This day encourages school/college students and helps them to boost their confidence and improve their mental abilities. The main aim of celebrating this day is to develop awareness among the youth about their rights and duties.
