What is International Mountain Day?

International Mountain Day takes place every year on December 11th. It is time to acknowledge all that mountains provide for us. Mountains are important and are responsible for 15% of the population, so it is a big part of life on the globe. This day is a chance to raise awareness for our fading mountains and emphasize their importance. The world needs mountains.

Why are mountains suffering?

Global warming is a growing problem. Global warming increases the temperatures forcing mountain species and the people that depend on these ecosystems to adapt to the new environment or leave it behind. Erosion and pollution are other problems mountains face and that can harm the quality of water flowing downstream.

UNESCO involvement

UNESCO pushes for taking walks and has a positive impact on the environment. UNESCO wants to help the world and make it a better place by having contests and pushing information out to the public. It is an organization that wants to improve society as a whole.

UNESCO BMW’s Mission

Our vision mission encompasses three main goals that are also in line with this occasion today and engage people of all ages, especially the youth improvement of the inner ecosystem, enhancement of inner creativity through arts and crafts, and, lastly, encouragement of inner peace globally.
