INTERNATIONAL DAY OF EDUCATION

BMW a New Year Program: Feldenkrais Method

On January 22, 2023 from 9:00 Am to 10:30 AM NY Time, for the UNESCO International Day of Education, we at Body & Mind Wellness Club invite you to join us for a Feldenkrais Method workshop to experience how we can learn to be aware of ourselves through movement.

Everyone is invited!

The vision of UNESCO Body and Mind Wellness

This Feldenkrais way of learning, or sensory-motor learning, is called Somatic Education. This is the first kind of learning we have all experienced after birth, when we learned all critical life functions not through being taught, but through sensing how we moved, and through developing an awareness through movement.

In this Feldenkrais Workshop, you will learn to be aware of your movement, to explore ways to move spontaneously, effortlessly, and efficiently, in accordance with your bodyā€™s design and structure. You will discover new movement options and have an opportunity to break away from faulty movement patterns which might have been the source of any chronic strain or pain.

Moreover, as our body is interconnected with our mind, every movement pattern is interconnected with a thinking, emotional, and behavioral pattern. Being able to break away from faulty movement patterns means being able to break away from faulty thinking, emotional, and behavioral patterns as well. This will open up new doors for us in every aspect of life – new thinking, new ideas, new opportunities, new relationships, and more freedom. This way of using movement to rewire the brain is well-researched, termed Neuroplasticity.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL1cZCEOl8Q

All you need to know for this 90-minute program:

Need to Knows for Workshop Participants:

Ā· The workshop will include a sampler lesson, a presentation and Q&A.

Ā·  For the lesson, please bring along a pen/pencil and a piece of paper.

Ā·  For the lesson, please prepare a chair with a flat, hard sitting surface (i.e. no soft cushion seats). The height of the chair needs to be such that the participantsā€™ feet can lie flat on the floor (i.e. so the feet would not be dangling).

Ā·  During the lesson, please do not setup any light source coming from behind you since this will create a backlit effect which makes it difficult to see you clearly during the lesson.

ā— Participants of this workshop are not eligible to claim, in writing or otherwise, that they teach the Feldenkrais Method and must not refer to services they provide using the words FeldenkraisĀ®, Feldenkrais MethodĀ®, Awareness Through MovementĀ® lessons or Functional IntegrationĀ® lessons.
