What is the theme of children’s day this year?

Children’s Day is an occasion to celebrate the world’s children and promote their welfare. It is observed on November 20th of each year, coinciding with the anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child by UNESCO in 1959. This year’s theme is ‘Empowering future generations. This year, UNESCOBMW is celebrating International Children’s Day on November 20th.

This year’s theme focuses on how we can empower children to reach their potential and make a positive difference in the world. We can empower children in many ways, such as through education, encouraging their creativity, and promoting their rights. UNESCOBMW’s work on children’s rights and their mental health is especially important in this regard. On this day, let us pledge to do our part in empowering children through mentoring so that they can build a better future for all of us.

What happened in 2000 regarding the diseases?

In 2000, the Millennium Development Goals were outlined by world leaders to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS by 2015. Albeit this applies to all people, the primary objective is concerning children and their self-care.

And regarding the right to the Education?

In September 2012, the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon of the United Nations led the initiative for the education of children. He firstly wants every child to be able to attend school, a goal by 2015. Unfortunately, to this day, children are having trouble attending and staying in school due to the suffering caused by such differences as religion, minority issues, or disabilities. For example, children feeling the effects of war can be displaced because of armed conflict and may suffer physical and psychological trauma. The following violations are described in the term “children and armed conflict”: recruitment of child soldiers, killing and maiming of children, and the abduction of children around the world has skyrocketed since the internet has become what it is. There are also wide spread attacks on schools, hospitals and a lack of humanitarian access to children. Currently, there are about 153 million children between the ages of 5 and 14 are forced into child labor. The International Labor Organization in 1999 adopted the Prohibition and Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labor including slavery, child prostitution, and child pornography. They banned it but that doesn’t mean that it’s going to stop anytime soon.  It is evident that much more needs to be done in order for every child to receive an education. Though the United Nations has taken steps towards this goal, issues such as war, child labor, and poverty are still major hindrances. More awareness needs to be brought to these children’s plights and more action needs to be taken in order to help them.

The importance of the right to play

Children also need space, time and encouragement to play. Play can be critical to developing skills such as problem-solving, communication, social interaction, creativity and coping with emotions. Play is not just fun it is essential to a children’s learning and development. It also promotes creativity, social skills and language skills. The right to explore, learn things for themselves through experience and grow to be the adult that they want to be. Play has been recognized by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The convention says all children have a right to rest and leisure, to engage in play and recreational activities appropriate to the age of the child, and to participate freely in cultural life and the arts. Play allows children to experiment with new ideas, express themselves and let off steam especially important in times of uncertainty or stress. Playing and interacting with other children is believe it or not a huge benefit to a young child’s self-esteem, confidence and over all wellbeing.

The Post Covid 19 is still affecting them

Now anxiety and depression in children is also growing rampant due to the pandemic young kids are afraid to attend school without a mask handy and the anxiety from that will grow into anxiety about a number of different things as they get older and because of the lock down at the start of the pandemic kids and teenagers have social anxiety and don’t remember how to interact with their friends or have lost the social skills that they need to keep that friendship. This is why children need encouragement to go out, play and spend time with their friends. It may be difficult for the child at first because things are still being affected by the pandemic. This is a global issue that needs to be taken more seriously. However, the aftermath of the pandemic is only part of the problem that children face in today’s climate. There are still many factors that face the children of the world. Children are often overlooked and undervalued. Many people believe that children should not be involved in politics or business. However, children are the future leaders of tomorrow. On November 20th, we celebrate them and encourage others to recognizes the importance of children’s rights, their social well-being and their protection from harm.

The last words

Remember children are our future, and we need to help them become well balanced adults. If we don’t help them become good, law abiding, kind, smart citizens and the person that they are meant to become, then the adults of this generation have failed as a whole. It may be scary to know that your child is growing up. It may be scary that they will grow and make their own decisions and way in life, but if we’re good about raising them then there is no need to fear the future of your child’s life. Then there is no need to fear the outcome of the people that they will become. We as adults, parent or not, need to raise the next generation right by mostly engaging them in every aspect of life and hope that the decisions they make will help them become smart, hardworking and good adults.
